Chargeback Policy
Last updated: December 22, 2024
This Chargeback Policy outlines how chargebacks are handled on The Streets App platform. By using The Streets App to sell tickets or products, you agree to the following terms.
What is a Chargeback?
A chargeback occurs when a cardholder disputes a charge with their bank or credit card provider.
The financial institution has full legal authority to reverse the transaction after reviewing the evidence provided by both parties.
This process is standard across the industry and governed by card network policies.
Common reasons for chargebacks include:
- The attendee did not receive the promised product or service.
- The attendee expected a refund but did not receive one.
- The cardholder does not recognize the charge on their statement.
Note: Chargebacks may still occur even if you have a "No Refunds" policy.
How Streets Handles Chargebacks
When a chargeback is initiated, The Streets App manages the process on your behalf, including:
- Notifying you of the chargeback and its reason.
- Requesting supporting documentation to represent your case.
- Submitting evidence to the financial institution, including transaction details and refund policies.
The financial institution will review the evidence and make a final decision. If the chargeback is resolved in your favor, no further action is required.
If the decision favors the cardholder, the chargeback amount will be deducted from your payouts.
Reducing Chargeback Risk
To minimize the likelihood of chargebacks, we recommend the following:
-
Communicate Clearly: Provide accurate event details, set a transparent refund policy, and notify attendees promptly about any changes.
-
Respond Quickly: Address refund requests within two business days. Offer alternatives like credits or ticket transfers for requests outside your refund policy.
-
Validate Ticket Usage: Use Streets' check-in tools to track attendees and ensure refunded tickets are invalid.
-
Monitor Account Email: Use an active email address to stay updated on notifications related to disputes or refunds.
What to Do After a Chargeback
If a chargeback is resolved against you:
-
Ensure refunded tickets are invalid for future use. Attendees must purchase new tickets to re-enter.
-
The chargeback amount will appear as a deduction from your payouts. If no payout is scheduled, it will be added to your account as an outstanding balance.
